There’s a Pervert on the Phone!

I used to work in a trading room of a bank where all of us spent almost the entire day glued to our phones and PC’s, quoting prices and rates, doing calculations, closing deals, and initiating documentations and confirmations of transactions made. We were selling Treasury bonds and bills, some foreign exchange transactions, and other marketable securities.

On a very, very busy day, where our client list was long and we were all raring to complete the transactions of the day, one of the phones rang. Now a phone ringing is a usual thing. What wasn’t usual were the incomprehensible sounds heard from that phone call. Because we were multi-tasking, that call was put on speaker phone such that the conversation was broadcast for the other traders to hear as well. That was also a rountine thing to do, that when the client finally got the phone, ready to provide instructions, we would pick it up off the speakerphone mode and give the attention that client would need.
