When you find old friends, it’s like unearthing precious treasures you missed having. Don’t you agree?

To find old friends can actually be challenging and emotionally taxing.

As we grow older, the number of people who are close to us and who really know us and care for us diminishes. And oftentimes, when we want to talk with or relate to someone else, we are hindered from doing so because we no longer know where they are or how to get in touch with them.

Allow me to illustrate, when you were in junior high, how many friends can you name who actually know you? There would be quite a number. Even if you were not so popular, still there are people who would at least know your name and to whose face it would be applicable to. To find old friends can actually be challenging and emotionally taxing. But fast forward to 10, 15 or even twenty years and your circle of friends simply seems to fade away unless you take on good simple steps to reverse the pattern.

During the initial years of my career, I was able to save some funds for the completion and improvement of our family’s home. Since I did not want to deplete my funds, I apportioned just a portion of it to finance the renovations of specific parts of our house – roofing and concreting of the garage area, installation of tiles and decorative wall and ceiling paper. To undertake the task, an office mate referred me to another friend of hers who was said to be in the business of small home project improvements. She further relayed that as a matter of fact, her husband was exploring going into partnership with that lady architect for that very purpose.

I thought that was a convenient coincidence and was rather relieved that I did not have to go hire somebody I did not know. Read the rest of this entry
